{"id":2260,"date":"2015-09-29T00:53:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T16:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bivou.com\/trekking-around-wen-hai-2\/"},"modified":"2024-05-20T04:11:22","modified_gmt":"2024-05-19T20:11:22","slug":"trekking-around-wen-hai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bivou.com\/zh-hans\/trekking-around-wen-hai\/","title":{"rendered":"1 Day Ecotourism Tour: Visit to Wenhai Village, Snowflake Yi Village, Fuguo Temple &#038; Baisha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>8 hours | 9 am start<\/p>\n<p>This unique 1-day ecotourism tour takes you past Fuguo Monastery, one of the five most important Tibetan monasteries in Lijiang, before reaching the remote Yi minority Snowflake (Xuehua) Village, where you can have a chance to visit a traditional Yi household.\u00a0 The Yi\u00a0 are one the largest minority groups in China and the largest group in southwest China, occupying rural mountainous areas of the region.\u00a0 Known for their colourful costumes, they have their own pictorial language and are fiercely proud of their culture.<\/p>\n<p>A short drive later we will reach Wenhai Village, a pristine Naxi village located at 3200metres next to the beautiful seasonal Wenhai lake.\u00a0 Here you will have a chance to walk around the lush Wenhai meadow and enjoy a local lunch with a Naxi family.\u00a0 The day ends with a visit to the ancient Baisha village, some 1200 years old.\u00a0 We will try to visit the famous herbalist Doctor Ho and the Naxi Embroidery School.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatives:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trip 1: Wenhai Wetlands and Naxi Village Visit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>3 hours | 9:30 am start<br \/>\nNestled in a sub-alpine valley at an elevation over 3000 meters, and inaccessible until recently except by foot or horse, Wenhai provides a perfect setting for exploring the traditional cultures and natural attractions of Northwest Yunnan.\u00a0 With Wenhai lake in the foreground and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain towering in the background, the tranquil Naxi village of Wenhai makes for a pretty sight, especially in the rainy season (May to August) when its lush banks are covered with splendid blooms of wildflowers and primroses.\u00a0\u00a0 Enjoy a relaxing walk in the meadows of Wenhai and watch alpine animals such as yaks, miniature horses, black pigs, goats and sheep grazing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bivou.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/wenhai.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3130\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bivou.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/wenhai.jpg\" alt=\"wenhai\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bivou.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/wenhai.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.bivou.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/wenhai-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Trip 2: Trek Wenhai Trail to Yuhu Village<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>6 hours | 9:30 am start<br \/>\nA relatively easy hike that takes you from Upper Wenhai village with barely 100 households (3200 metres) down the slopes of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the Lijiang Valley, at 2800 metres.\u00a0 Along the way, you\u2019ll pass lush alpine forests, a reservoir, the highest botanical gardens in the world, hundreds of varieties of\u00a0 vegetation including fir trees, wild flowers, mushrooms and herbs, before descending to Yuhu, the last village at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a remote stone village best known for being the home of explorer Joseph Rock for over 27 years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trip 3:\u00a0 Hike Jade Dragon Snow Mountain: First Peak Hike or Dry River Basin<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>9 hours | 8:30 am<br \/>\nFor the relatively fit, this trip allows you a different way of experiencing the splendor of the Lijiang highlands.\u00a0 The hike up the slopes of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain to the <strong>First Peak<\/strong> will take you from 2700metres to over 4300meters, You will traverse through lush forests, pass streams, and finally to the base of the peak resting at a grassy meadow before the final 40mins trudge up to the top where you will see the main peak of Jade Dragon,Shanzidou, up close. Another trek is on the southern side of Yulong Snow Mountain. The <strong>Dry River Basin trek<\/strong> takes in the remains of a massive basin carved out by glacier movements over thousands of years.
